Emirates wants to enable Bitcoin payments from 2026-thanks to partnership with Crypto.com. The airline is driving the crypto adoption in travel.
The international airline Emirates wants to enable payments with cryptocurrencies in the future. On July 9, 2025, the company signed a declaration of intent (Memorandum of Understanding, Mou) with the crypto platform Crypto.com. The aim of the agreement: The integration of Crypto.com Pay into the global payment system from Emirates-including bookings, retail and duty-free offers.
According to Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer from Emirates, the cooperation is primarily intended to address the “younger, technology -savvy customer group”. The new payment system offers travelers “greater flexibility and freedom of choice in transaction with Emirates,” says Kazim. The Dubais vision as a global innovation hub also plays a central role in the decision.
Crypto.com President Eric Anziani commented on the partnership as a “strategic milestone” in order to promote the real use of cryptocurrencies in everyday life. Together they want to create “real innovations in the financial sector” – with effect beyond air traffic.
The technical implementation is still in the planning phase, but both companies signaled ambitious goals. The integration should start from 2026. Common marketing campaigns are also planned to make the new offer known.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Emirates CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum. He emphasized the claim “to improve the travel experience through digital payment solutions on every touchpoint” – in accordance with Dubai's economic policy “D33 Agenda”.
