Thanks to New York Bitlicense, Moonpay has access to the whole USA

The Moonpay crypto payment service announces that it will be able to offer its service to users in all 50 US states in the future after the company has received a corresponding license approval in New York.
In a message dated June 4, Moonpay announced that the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) was a so-called Bitlicense and a money transfer license to the company's American subsidiary granted has. The additional Bitlicense makes MoonPay one of only 35 crypto companies that are in New York state be active may.
“With the approval of our New York Bitlicense and Money Transmitter licenses, Moonpay now has the regulatory gold standard for crypto services in the USA, which enables us to operate customers directly and seamlessly in every single state,” says Ivan Sot-Wright, co-founder and CEO from MoonPay.
As part of the Bitlicense, every company that wants to act with digital assets in New York or who want to manage crypto investments by residents must first acquire the required approval. This strict regulation is currently being examined by local politicians such as the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, who demanded an end to the specification during the Bitcoin Krypto Conference in Las Vegas in 2025.
Moonpay's announcement was made about a month after the company had announced that it would open a new headquarters in New York City. In December 2024, the payment platform announced that it received approval in the Netherlands as a licensed crypto service provider as part of the new European regulation Mica (Markets in Crypto-Assets).

Will New York still become a Mecca for crypto?
As an important economic center, the state of New York and its largest city are often the focus of crypto companies who want to gain a foothold on the US market.
Anchorage Digital, Circle, Coinbase and Gemini all have a Bitlicense to work in the region, but despite strict requirements, investor protection is not necessarily guaranteed even after grant. In January 2024 Genesis agreed to give up his Bitlicense as part of a comparison with the NYDFS, since it was supposed to have cheated investors with the Gemini Earn service.
In the meantime, Adams is faced with a political headwind after officials from the Ministry of Justice have recently intervened and the municipal authorities have instructed to hire a corruption procedure against the Mayor of New York City. At the same time, he apparently strengthened his support for the crypto industry by organizing a crypto summit and giving a speech at Bitcoin 2025.
